@bookman I'm pretty much good to go whenever you are
good luck - take it away
Great opening @jb043
@jeeep33 Awh cheers!
@qallout put 'definitions' for debate topics somewhere so that the debaters don't spend time doing that during their debate PLZ
@andersonisawriter NOTED! :-) work in progress
@andersonisawriter Nah I don't think definitions are super important for it, maybe that's just me as someone who debates regularly I'm used to like defining things in the debate so it's not much of an issue for me but if I'm happy to roll with whatever goes
@jb043 this was a lil short but other debates on here take forever just to establish a common understanding of subjective terms
@andersonisawriter True. But like I don't really think you need super long definitions for debates. As long as you're both on at least a somewhat similar page it should be all g. Like again, I'm used to the format of proper debates at uni and the like so maybe I'm a little biased but idk
@jb043 ok fair enough
@bookman Interesting to chew over and can fully transform a person. My upbringing lead to me turning poly when I was in my early twenties and it changed my perception of relationships forever. I can safely say I'm the happiest person on earth.Gender neutral parenting, although very different, can be just as beneficial.This is an excellent discussion!
@gemmafree totally agree - let's hope with Trump's era things don't deteriorate, gay marriage is just the beginning of real freedom.
By the way gents, you can have a non moderated debate next time where you have no time limit or mic control
@jameson14 Wait wut ??
@jb043 the whole 'sounds like satire, living in a bubble thing'.
Also, are you debating from work?Brilliant!
@jameson14 Nah at uni mate
@jb043 always thought Australia and the United Kingdom are very similar when it comes to the social landscape, gender neutrality and issues of this sort. Seems like the US is ahead of its time!
@riley88 We don't even have marriage equality so....... Maybe not quite
@bookman cheers for the debate!
here's the vid I alluded to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrlzaBNgz-M
damn. I can't vote for myself...
@bookman i can see your vote, you voted for yourself just fine :)
@yaz ah good. that's handy...
gender is not a make believe construct, it is one of the most properly basic facts in life. I doubt the person arguing for the affirmative knows anything about the effects that even same sex marriage, nevermind, "gender neutrality" can have on a child.
@akyriak justification for the last part pls?
I also do have a pretty good conceptualisation of what same sex marriage can do to children so 🤷♂️
"Gender-neutral parenting" is child abuse.
@deusvult how so?
@jb043 Because men and women have natural strengths, weaknesses and roles in society and failing to take this into account is preparing them for failure in life.
@deusvult I'm not even going to try to validate that point
@jb043 You don't have to, nature already validates my perspectives.
@deusvult I think calling it child abuse may be taking it a bit far but it can definitely be harmful to kids, especially socially
@ryan_t14 At the very least, it's emotional and psychological neglect.
@deusvult fair enough, I can see that
