So this isn't something I necessarily believe to be true but I think it's an interesting convo to have and I want to see what everyone feels about it. Especially given Trump's new 'friendship' with Duarte in anticipation of issues with North Korea

@fitzy45 history says otherwise. Terrorist groups don't respond to UN sanctions or understood rules of war. North Korea at least will at least respect rules of engagement

You can't just but the situation in a black and white binary view remember the south Korean and US military regularly do military drills on the Korean pennsulia which only makes the situation worse.

the presence of nuclear weapons automatically makes every situation 10000 times more dangerous so yeah

They both pose different but equally dangerous threats.

North Korea is no threat at all. The Chinese keep North Korea going as a buffer zone and wild card.
China cannot be attacked without first eliminating North Korea. If China is attacked North Korea is there as an unpredictable threat that can attack American allies in the region.
North Korea won't initiate or engage in any major conflict unless they themselves or China is under threat.
China is surrounded by hostile militaries and it suits them very much to have a supposedly unpredictable and nuclear armed regime threatening powerful american allies in the region.
In my opinion North Korea will not attack and will only be attacked by western powers in preparation for war with China.
At the moment however, the west has it hands tied with Syria and Yemen. Both Syria and Yemen (and also maybe Lebanon) must be neutralised before attacking Iran which in my opinion is the greater priority for the west at the moment.
Iran would also be a much more difficult opponent where nuclear weapons would have to be used, unless the US secretly has MOABs with much more energy than the one used in Afghanistan, which is again quite likely.
Even then the Iranians are highly educated and patriotic and have proven themselves a worthy opponent throughout the past few millennia and particularly during the Iran Iraq war.

Middle East has launched many terrorist attacks against US but the NK hasn't done anything yet

@bassan336 I'm inclined to agree but rogue terrorist attacks are very different than coordinated missile and potential nuclear attacks...
