Perhaps another way to describe it more effectively is "the right is rooted in the fear of change as the left is rooted in the need for change"

It is this internal struggle on both sides that create hostility towards the other as they are a process of thought in separate areas of the brain. It's the prefrontal cortex vs the limbic system.

The desire to make the world better is key to the "The Left's" agenda. The fear of losing freedom is key to "The Rights" agenda. Both have equal grounds to be concerned for the others agenda.

My other questions are... which best suits the evolutionary agenda? Can one exist without the other? Is there a reason or purpose for the difference in cognition?

I'm all for picking on the Right Wing and their regressive views on pretty much everything to gender and sexuality, warfare, and corporations, but I do think it's a BIT more complicated than that.

I enjoy the way you explain it in detail and will look forward to the debate Thursday.
