Check out the Tournament Ladder
Hi @lewisoflime, as agreed with you and your opponent, you'll submit a 1:30 video clip as a reply to this comment, in order to make up for the lost time in the debate (I deleted your last video clip, since you hadn't seen your opponent's full case..)We'll make sure the RJs consider your 1:30 clip in their official assessmentcc @gigi
@qallout @lewisoflime Please make sure you post your comment before 9.30 PM EST tonight!
@gigi @qallout Just posted it - will the judges know to check it out?
@lewisoflime All good! @wylie_l will check your video comments before submitting his assessment
@lewisoflime Congrats for advancing to the next round!@kimballdonald Great job, we hope to see you at November's tournament - registration is now open:https://www.qallout.com/tournament
i don't see you
@lewisoflime we lost you
@lewisoflime You cut out.
My internet connection is fine, everything is loading.
If you're talking, I can't hear you. I see your timer go down but no sound is coming through.
@lewisoflime You just came back on my screen.
@lewisoflime @kimballdonald, since The pro lost about a minute and a half, a reasonable option would be to let Pro watch Con's final speech that he missed, and then leave a video comment here in the comments for his closing remarks. Are each of you ok with this solution?
@debateme13 I attempted not to bring in new material and just do a recap because I would have liked to respond to his final comments.
@debateme13 @kimballdonald this is so gross - a video comment gives me a prep advantage, doesn't feel fair. @kimballdonald if you wanna reset i'm okay with that, lmk what you want
@kimballdonald perhaps if we give him 3:00 and you 1:30 to make a final speech would that be fair?
@debateme13 I'm okay if you just want to respond with a minute and a half - if that's what it comes down to.
@kimballdonald It's up to you and Joseph. Usually Qallout gives an extra speech in the comments if there were technical difficulties. What would you consider fair in this situation?
@debateme13 Yeah, that's fine!
@kimballdonald ok, so would you prefer him do 1:30 and that be the end of it? or would you rather have him do 3:00 and you get an additional 1:30? @yaz can step in here if he has a preference.
@debateme13 1:30 is fine by me.
is that good for you @lewisoflime?
@kimballdonald @lewisoflime says he'd prefer a round reset, but that's gonna be out of my hands. @yaz will have to step in on this one.
@debateme13 @lewisoflime @yaz I would prefer not, but will defer to Yaz.
@debateme13 The math here is hard. I'm missing half of my speech and all of my last opponent's minus 30 seconds, nullifying pretty much any potential refutation out of the last speech.
Also as an FYI, when the time switched, I did not engage any new material in order to try to make the debate more even, and only reviewed points I had already made, as to try to not give me an unfair advantage.
@kimballdonald For what it's worth, this was a really really great debate. And props to both of you for dealing with the technical issues and still making this so engaging.
Sorry for the technical issues, but great debate @lewisoflime!
The flag code includes this section: "(c) The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free." So when the flag is held horizontally across a football field, it does in fact violate the flag code.
Is kneeling 'un-American' ...or is it just a symbol of classlessness.For example - if a joint national military event is held, and any ceremonies, the military of ALL nations participating would stand RESPECTFULLY during the parading of colors and playing the anthem of another nation. It is a sign of respect, and it is a sign of CLASS.Consider that when the NFL played a game in London...."Three Miami Dolphins players were spotted taking a knee on the sideline during the singing of the national anthem: Kenny Stills, Michael Thomas and Julius Thomas." NOW...when the Brit 'anthem' "God Save the Queen" was played, ALL players stood respectfully...showing class. I am sure that England has a checkered history of problems, same as the US...but the players decided to be respectful to the UK. WHICH BEGS THE QUESTION....if they can stand quietly and show respect for the UK...when they take a knee for our national anthem - one must observe that they are NOT showing any respect and they are protesting instead of being respectful. NOW - do we define disrespect as 'un-American'? I don't know.... I simply call it DISRESPECTFUL....and leave it at that. Disrespectful to the same flag that covers the coffins of first responders in America, or soldiers who fight for America's freedoms. Yes- it is disrespectful. I would never do it. I won't stop anyone from doing it..their 'free speech right'...but I wouldn't trust someone who can act 'classless' and disrespect our flag. Maybe not 'un-American'...but I can call it un-patriotic and a slap in the face of everyone who served or is serving. They might object to how I characterize it...but then they are interfering with MY protest and MY free speech.
disagree, its our right to kneel
