      @mvineyard Hey! Been sick with the flu for a week now, and made it to quarters as well. As soon as I'm out of the November tournament we can settle on a day.

      @eli_mcgowan Super....get well, and do well! BTW - what time zone are you in?

    • 2 years ago

      @mvineyard Eastern.

      @mvineyard - and thanks!

      @mvineyard with the tournament behind us, and being on the mend from Mono, I'm quite ready to take this on. What days work for you? I'd prefer if we could switch it to an automatically timed debate though, to insure equal speaking time.

      @eli_mcgowan Unfortunately, I am heading out for a week or so....so I am not available until after the new year.

      My initial idea, which I thought you agreed with - was more a 'discussion' rather than a 'debate'. In previous chats, I thought that this discussion was to present a 'scenario' that explains why the country agreed with 'taking out Saddam'. It was 2003 when the real debate occurred, and the majority in Congress passed a resolution - and a majority of people supported the removal of Saddam from power. That discussion looks at those factors. Yes - there were people opposed. My idea for a discussion was to look at the 'run up' to the 2003 resolutions - and see if it was 'rational' or irrational to make the decision that was made. I don't have a desire to re-fight the issue with someone who is opposed to what we did in the past....because I don't think anything I say would convince someone to change their mind. BUT - for some people who didn't know or forgot the 'run up to 2003' - the idea was to look at the factors that caused there to be support.

      @mvineyard I was just a little concerned after watching how you talked over Ian in your discussion with him.
