Lives aren't being saved by guns that weren't first at risk because of guns. If there weren't guns in the first place, it is likely that those lives would not be at risk anyway. This is why America's homicide rate is higher than most wealthy, developed nations.
@sharkb8 Correct. But guns already exist. The question isn't if we can make them magically appear.
@mosheweissman It just means your argument about "there are so many lives saved by guns so they're good!" is fallacious. Guns don't save any lives. Guns can sometimes be used to fix the problem they first created, but that's like me saying "wow I saved you from rape because I held back from raping you at the last moment"
@sharkb8 The question here isn't if they are 'good' or not, the question is now that we have them should they be banned. When concidering banning them why would you not look at the lives saved by them? Again, this isn't a question as to whether guns should be around to begin with.
@qallout This was accidentally made private, any way to make it public? Thanks.
I hear the “tanks” argument made a lot in these types of arguments. Just so everyone knows, it is completely legal in America to own a tank.
