Gender-neutral pronouns have been part of the English language since.. well, pretty much since there's BEEN an English language. People who get all upset about it now are just transphobic bigots trying desperately to find something they can latch their claws into to try and pass off their monstrous ideology as "logical" and "reasonable."

Also, I always get a laugh when some Right Wing blogger or journalists write some big post/article where they go on and on about how awful gender-neutral pronouns are, then without any hint of irony or self-awareness uses no less than three in the first handful of paragraphs. *LOL*

Agreed, though I think trans folks who are especially adamant about this can take things too far. It's not easy to get used to using unfamiliar words, and some folks just won't care enough to bother.

Even among the LBGT community, there doesn't seem to be a ton of unity on what the best course is. Some argue for universal gender neutrality (which I think is needlessly blinding yourself to the reality of the world where there absolutely is lots of gender) and those despise gender neutrality as it robs them of their very strong desire to firmly establish their trans gender identity.

Like anything, I thing it's best to take it on a case by case basis. I do try to avoid gender specifics if they don't have any relevant meaning in my writing.

There is not point in asking somebody to use gender neutral pronouns because since day one we have been calling people by pronouns such as "he" and "she" and I honestly dont see why it matters. It doesn't really offend people they just have nothing better to do with their lives so they whine.

@devon I see far more whining from the "f*** you I won't use your pronouns" crowd than the other way around. Your post for instance. It is extremely whiny. You are whining and moaning that some people might prefer you say "they" instead of "he" or "she." Well boo-hoo. Is someone ever said to you "Please, call me Mike," would you go "NO! Your name is Michael! I refuse to indulge your delusions by calling you 'Mike!' Stop trying to censor my free speech, SJW!"? That is not any different than respecting trans and genderfluid people's pronouns.

@arkle Hey I mean no disrespect but I feel as if it is disrespectful to me to take away that free speach maybe we should have a video debate?

@devon So, people asking you to respect them is disrespectful to you? Wow. What an asshole. Your free speech is NOT being violated. At all. Not even a little. What dark smelly hole did you pull that ridiculous idea out of?

@arkle My free speach is not affected that is correct although you telling my not to say a simple pronoun because itll hurt your feeling and then you'll come back at me and disrespect me more. There was one incodent at school in which a feminist took my hat and threw it away just because I called her by her biological gender.

@devon "My free speach is not affected that is correct although you telling my not to say a simple pronoun because itll hurt your feeling and then you'll come back at me and disrespect me more."

The guy who gets angry at being ASKED to show human beings basic respect is gonna complain about "my" feelings. Cute. Also, I'm not genderfluid. I'm just not an asshole. If someone says "Just so you know, I prefer gender-neutral pronouns when you talk about me," I don't bitch and moan like you you little shitlord. I go, "Okay." Again, because I am not an asshole.

There is just something BROKEN inside you if you view something as simple, as basic, as just RESPECTING non-binary people's pronoun as being disrespectful to you. It isn't. You are just a colossal dick.

"There was one incodent at school in which a feminist took my hat and threw it away just because I called her by her biological gender."

Sure. I bet this is a thing that totally happened, and not a lie or at least an exaggeration in the slightest. Judging by your phrasing, here's what more likely happened; You met a transman who you insisted on calling "she" until he got sick of your bullshit.

@arkle Okay so I beleive I said something they way i didn't mean it. I respect that you dont feel like obeying the laws of biology and what not, but im not gonna pretend that biology doesnt exist with you.

So I guess your argument wins because there is nothing wrong with being asked. But I don't believe that I should go against my morals so you can live in some world where biology doesn't exist.

@devon "I respect that you dont feel like obeying the laws of biology "

"I should go against my morals so you can live in some world where biology doesn't exist."

Biology does exist. No one says it doesn't. What trans and non-binary people are saying is that people like you are SO stupid you seem to think that you learned everything you need to know about biology in sixth grade. Well, I hate to ruin your day (that's a lie, I love ruining bigot's days) but see, people who continue to study biology AFTER middle school do not agree with you. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2017/01/how-science-helps-us-understand-gender-identity/

        http://socgen.ucla.edu/2015/03/challenging-gender-identity-biologists-say-gender-expands-across-a-spectrum-rather-than-simply-boy-and-girl/

So when you say you are "obeying the laws of biology," what you are actually saying is that "biology doesn't exist when it is inconvenient for me."

But hey, what do they know, they're just scientists who spent years studying this field while you are a teenage asshole. Clearly you know more than they do.

gender doesn't exist outside of the physical definition of genitalia and speech progresses by using purpose and understanding so asking anyone to amend there speech patterns to simply be more PC is ridiculous and a waste of time
