lol this is so obviously a Con win. For one thing the topic is ridiculous. Nelson says at the beginning that Duncan offered for the topic to be "makes little sense" which would be much more even ground for each side. As it is, all Con has to do is present a rational position and he wins. He not only does that, he presents a much better position than Pro.

Pro claims that "Everybody knows" certain things are wrong therefore it's objective. That's his only argument. But that's just a feeling. Just because I believe raping babies is bad doesn't mean that's the reason it's bad. If it's bad, there must be a reason why it is bad. Nelson didn't actually make an argument at all. But even if we said that "everybody knows" is the reason why morality is objective, that argument falls flat because what people believe is subject to cultural/sociological pressures which they are raised with. That's why morality has been fundamentally different in nearly every culture throughout history.

Con stays on topic and focuses on how all he's doing is explaining that his worldview is consistent and rational. He doesn't have to prove that it's correct, he just needs to prove that he has a solid logical grounding. He does so.

@sharkb8 I'm sure most Christians will say "this is obviously a pro win," but thanks for watching and commenting. I enjoyed the discussion and Nelson mostly understood everything I told him; which is rare for this topic.

I proposed "makes little sense" and when he wanted to change it to "makes no sense" I warned him that this would be setting the bar too high. He said he was fine with that. Oh well.

@duncan_king The thing is, I don’t vote for which side I agree with. I vote for the side who wins the debate. I’ve voted for Nelson when I think he wins the debate, and I vote against him when he makes stupid topics and fails to prove them (which isn’t uncommon lol). This was an example of the latter.

Also you did a good job. Even if the debate had been better set up I think I probably still would have voted for you since you stayed on topic and actually substantiated your points.
