I like public works of art like this generally. Traveling the US, I very much enjoyed seeing them and they inspire you to learn about history and culture. They are also good for engendering national pride and sense of community.But they should not be everyday things, only something you do on special occasions or when there is a great indwelling of support. I read a little about the complaints, and they are valid, but we cannot always focus on the dramatic or the mundane, we need a mix in our lives. So I think on balance, I agree with it. But I don't know a lot.
