Okay, so there's two people I know I never need to listen to. Thanks, whoever you are.

BTW, until feminists start throwing Jews, Romani, the disabled, Communists, and POWs into death camps, maybe instead of typing the word "feminiazi" you stab yourself in the leg with a pitchfork instead. You'd be doing humanity more favors that way. :D

BTW, until Trump supporters start throwing Jews, Romani, the disabled, Communists, and POWs into death camps, maybe instead of typing "Trump supporters are Nazis" you stab yourself in the leg with a pitchfork instead. You'd be doing humanity more favors that way. :D

Your response would be a great comeback, if not for the fact that Trump regularly re-tweets, and openly associates with, and has been endorsed by literal Nazis.

      Care to try again?

Not particularly, as you said above, you don't listen to people you disagree with, so the only reason to engage you on any real level is if I have time to waste.

I would like to see sources though, as you make rather bold claims.

"Not particularly, as you said above, you don't listen to people you disagree with, so the only reason to engage you on any real level is if I have time to waste. "

I have made three videos on this site with my best friend. Obviously I can listen to people who disagree with me. It's what they disagree with ON that matters. Also how. That's a biggie too. I'd be much more willing to debate people like Eric if I had any confidence they would be debating honestly.

And FTR, while none of my disagreements with Diomira on this site have been huge, I've known her for almost 13 years. Trust me, we've had our share of arguments. The difference being that she disagrees with me like a grown-up, and doesn't say garbage like "feminazis are a real thing" or "rape culture isn't real" or "Black Lives Matter is a hate group," or some other form of nonsense that make me see that going H2H with someone would not be a good use of my Mom's webcam (mine is having problems and I can't afford to replace it right now).

I've said none of those things, and yet you've decided to act like I have. If anything that speaks more about you than it does about me. Also, debating your best friend really doesn't mean anything, because they're your best friend and their views are naturally going to be pretty close to yours on most anything that matters.

"I've said none of those things, and yet you've decided to act like I have."

You haven't, true. I was using them as examples of the kind of thing I'm talking when I say how/what people disagree with me on matters.

"Also, debating your best friend really doesn't mean anything, because they're your best friend and their views are naturally going to be pretty close to yours on most anything that matters."

Your exact words were "you don't listen to people you disagree with." I was defending against the charge you made. Be more specific next time if you don't like my response.

Oh, my bad, let me correct it. You ignore anything said by anyone who disagrees with you on any topic that has an important impact on the world at large. Better?

Better, yes. A total lie, also yes.

Or did the whole "how" thing slip past you?

What you are failing to grasp is that it's not "just disagreeing with me," that drives my decisions to not take certain people seriously. That's how you frame it, but your framing is incredibly dishonest.

I don't have a problem with someone disagreeing with me so long as they acknowledge the underlying facts of what we are talking about. When I did the debate about videos of police brutality with Magdalen, we disagreed on quite a bit in that video. But if she were the type to deny that police violence was a problem, if she were to act as though those videos didn't show what they showed, she would not be worth having an honest debate with.

This is why I won't debate feminism with someone who self-identifies as anti-feminist and uses a disgustingly sexist avatar to represent himself. This is why I won't have debates about science with self-described flat-Earthers.

And you are a tool of the highest order if you think this is somehow a bad thing.

Hey, if arguing with people who don't agree with me in the hopes of getting them to agree with me makes me a tool, I'll take it.

That only works if the other person shows any sign they're debating in good faith. Are you honestly telling me you can't tell the difference between someone you might be able to reach and someone who is clearly just going to try and Gish Gallop you?

The term "feminazi" is a stupid phrase, used by stupid people, and invented by an objectively terrible person. I am 100% certain that someone who uses that word in all seriousness is not someone I can have a debate with in good faith.

Don't like that? Too. Fucking. Bad.

You just have to agree to giving points one at a time. Its impossible to gish gallop if you can only make one point. Debates aren't arguments, they should have rules and structure.

Um, I'm not the one doing the galloping here. Did you only skim my comment before replying?

You're right, I only partially paid attention, as I don't think it's worth really focusing on someone who non ironically uses WhitePeople(TM), as it is a stupid phrase, used by stupid people, and invented by an objectively terrible person. My apologies.

"I don't think it's worth really focusing on someone who non ironically uses WhitePeople(TM), as it is a stupid phrase, used by stupid people, and invented by an objectively terrible person. My apologies."

Do you even know coined the term White People(TM), or what it even means? I bet you don't.

So we can add "liar" as well as "tool" to your list of attributes.

And quite possibly "racist" as well, though I'm only 50/50 on that one.

It's just as dumb as feminazi is and the people who use one are just on the opposite side of the coin from the people who use the other. Also, when in doubt, just accuse them of racism.

"It's just as dumb as feminazi is and the people who use one are just on the opposite side of the coin from the people who use the other."

It really isn't. You are a liar, sir.

"Also, when in doubt, just accuse them of racism."

I only accuse people who do racist things of racism, so...

What have I done that's racist? Disagree with you? Think one stupid term is just as stupid as another?

"Think one stupid term is just as stupid as another?"

The fact that you think White People(TM) is a stupid term all while demonstrating that you don't actually know what it means. That's a pretty good sign right there.

Oh, and I notice that racists tend to use the phrase "you only call me racist because I disagree with you a lot."

I haven't demonstrated that I know what feminazi means either, yet you don't seem to have a problem with that. I'm still wondering how I'm a racist though.

You wonder why casually dismissing a term largely created by Black people as stupid without so much as a token effort to find out what it means could be seen as racist?

Damn, you don't get out much do you?

Well, I'm going to try and explain it to you. It's not that I think you're too stupid to get it, it's that I think you don't want to get it. But, allon'sy!

White People(TM) was created as a phrase, because when discussing white racism on Twitter, where a 140 character limit exists, some white people who don't even engage in those racist behaviors still got defensive (why, I don't know) and assumed that the Black people on Twitter who were decrying or mocking white supremacy were talking about them.

Sidebar: Imagine if you will, you're on a beach, lying on a towel. A bunch of kids are running around, even though there are signs that say "No Running." A lifeguard yells out, "Hey! No running!" Would you assume he was talking about you?

So, the term White People(TM) started going around as a way to let overly-sensitive, easily offended white people know that they could skip the #NotAllWhitePeople response. Because, when you have a character limit, White People(TM) is just a more efficient way to say "people who do/say things to reinforce white supremacy."

Saying White People(TM) is a stupid phrase is like saying #smh is a stupid phrase. It's just a thing people did on Twitter to get around the character limit that bled into social media and comment sections at large. Not unlike LOL, or IRL, or WTF.

    *sigh*

Why don't my topics about concept albums or B-movies get this many comments?

To start with there is a number of terms that become trendy every now and then. Not sure what makes them legitimate... The conversation between you two guys is far more interesting. Anyone can debate anyone and can have their own boundaries. However, my understanding of this site's mission is to actually open up constructive dialogue between conflicting opinions. We are all so used to talk to our friends (so much easier) but shouldn't we also see what the other side has to say?? The reality is that everyone's opinion is worth listening as long as he doesn't use hate speech and bullying. You cannot control what people think but you can control the way you communicate. So the point is to Qall Out (call out!) the bullies rather than opinions of people that we don't like!

The word Nazi has become synonymous with Extreme. Feminazi is a valid term coined over forty years ago, describing feminists who, in their zeal and indignation of establishment misogyny, acts at an extreme that approaches misandry. In fact, all Feminazi as a word means, is the female version of a misogynist. Having had a few women studies profs who were misandrists and hated their male students to the point of discrimination, I can't fathom how someone would think the term Feminazi isn't valid. It described these few profs of mine perfectly.

It was coined by Rush Limbaugh.

I shouldn't need to say anything else. Listening to what Rush has to say about women is like listening to what Mel Gibson has to say about Jews.

The earliest use of the combined word goes back to the 1970s, Gloria Steinem even commented on it. Limbaugh simply popularized it in the 1990s.
