This was actually a pretty good debate, never really thought about this topic. Must agree with Lea tho
I think it's important to distinguish between celebrating art that happens to be produced by a flawed individual and celebrating it BECAUSE it is made by one. For instance, auctioning off Hitler's mediocre paintings would be disturbing since they would be worthless if made by someone who wasn't notorious. Also, the world's art museums would be pretty empty if we applied a strict character test to all artists. Look at all of the crap produced under totalitarian regimes that filter out any "deviant" works.
